# Facebook API guide

## Start with Facebook

Read a public page, choose a post from its feed and inspect the available discussion. Pages, groups, reels and marketplace listings are separate data surfaces.

These requests use your API key and can spend credits. Check the current price on the endpoint page; each new page is a separate request. Later examples use illustrative identifiers: replace them with values from your earlier response.

### 1. Resolve the page

Keep the returned page URL and source identifiers. Page followers and likes describe different counters. [Parameters and current cost →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/profile)

**facebook/profile**

```
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/facebook/profile?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fnasa" \
  -H "x-api-key: mn_your_key_here"
```

### 2. Read the page feed

Choose a returned post URL. A page of posts is a bounded sample, and feed order may include pinned content. [Parameters and current cost →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/posts)

**facebook/posts**

```
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/facebook/posts?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fnasa" \
  -H "x-api-key: mn_your_key_here"
```

### 3. Read a post discussion

Replace the example URL with a post from the feed. Preserve reply continuation fields on each comment. [Parameters and current cost →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/post-comments)

**facebook/post-comments**

```
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/facebook/post-comments?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F2839681326387786%2F" \
  -H "x-api-key: mn_your_key_here"
```

## Choose filters with the source behavior in mind

| Control | Behavior and limits |
| --- | --- |
| URL identity | Use the correct public page, post or group URL. A page name does not resolve to a group and a numeric counter is not a list of people. [Endpoint reference →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/profile) |
| Reply continuation | Pass feedback_id and expansion_token from the same parent comment together. Neither can be reconstructed from the display text. [Endpoint reference →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/comment-replies) |
| Sort and time | Group sort_by supports CHRONOLOGICAL or TOP_POSTS. City event time buckets belong to city-events; do not attach them to other feeds. [Endpoint reference →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/group-posts) |
| Coverage | A visible comment count does not guarantee every comment or reply can be collected. Preserve the returned cursor and warnings. [Endpoint reference →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/post-comments) |

Source availability, ordering and field coverage can change. Inspect warnings and partial-result metadata alongside the rows. See [runnable workflows](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/workflows), [metric semantics](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/metric-semantics), [computed fields](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/computed-fields) and the [pagination matrix](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/pagination).

## Match the operation to your task

| Your task | Endpoint | When to use it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A specific post | [`post`](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/post) | Retrieve its full available text and counters. |
| Replies under a comment | [`comment-replies`](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/comment-replies) | Requires both feedback_id and expansion_token from that comment row. |
| A public group feed | [`group-posts`](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/group-posts) | Use a group URL and its supported sort. A page feed does not retrieve group posts. |
| Events around a city | [`city-events`](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/facebook/city-events) | Use a city events URL and the declared time bucket. |

## Endpoint reference

## facebook/city-events

`GET /v1/facebook/city-events`

The public events on a city's Facebook events page, one page at a time and optionally limited to today, this week or next week: name, when, where, kind, cover, price range and interest counts.

*Facebook city events*

| Parameter | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `url` | yes | A city's Facebook events page URL — e.g. `https://www.facebook.com/events/explore/saint-petersburg-florida/111326725552547` |
| `time` | no | today, this_week or next_week; omitted = all time Accepted values: today, this_week, next_week. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `this_week` |
| `cursor` | no | Opaque cursor from the previous page |
| `dry_run` | no | Read a zero-credit estimate without fetching sources, running AI, or reserving credits. Cache status is a snapshot, not a guarantee at execution. Accepted values: 1, 0, true, false. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `1` |

### Useful optional inputs

- `cursor`: Continue the same source traversal with the complete returned cursor. Saved-result retrieval and a new source page can have different prices; quote the next call.
- `dry_run`: Read a free estimate before fetching sources or scheduling paid work. Zero credits; cache status and availability are snapshots rather than guarantees.

**Cost:** 4 credits at list price per successful uncached response; variable-cost operations may quote or settle a different charge. Confirmed uncharged or refunded failures report zero. Pending reconciliation can report credits_used:null; retain request_id and the original idempotency key.

```bash
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/facebook/city-events?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fevents%2Fexplore%2Fsaint-petersburg-florida%2F111326725552547" \
  -H "x-api-key: mn_your_key_here"
```

## facebook/comment-replies

`GET /v1/facebook/comment-replies`

The reply thread under one Facebook comment — chain feedback_id + expansion_token from facebook/post-comments. Facebook hides some reply threads; an empty list is the platform's real answer, not an error.

*Comment replies*

| Parameter | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `feedback_id` | yes | feedback_id from a facebook/post-comments row. |
| `expansion_token` | yes | expansion_token from the same facebook/post-comments row. |
| `cursor` | no | Opaque cursor from the previous page. |
| `dry_run` | no | Read a zero-credit estimate without fetching sources, running AI, or reserving credits. Cache status is a snapshot, not a guarantee at execution. Accepted values: 1, 0, true, false. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `1` |
| `judgments` | no | Add bounded AI labels to eligible returned records (default on). off preserves the original data shape. Unclassified records remain present; labels depend on evidence, time, capacity and the existing request budget. No label surcharge. Accepted values: on, off. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `on` |
| `label` | no | Set none to disable labels; default enables the endpoint’s label set. Equivalent to judgments=off. Accepted values: default, none. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `none` |
| `label_evidence` | no | Include exact supporting sentences and zero-based sentence indexes when a label has validated evidence. No extra charge or change to decisions. Accepted values: 1, 0, true, false. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `1` |
| `exclude` | no | Optionally remove confidently labelled engagement bait. Uncertain and unclassified records stay; removed IDs and an owner-bound recall reference are returned. Accepted values: engagement_bait. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `engagement_bait` |
| `fit` | no | Use goal to replace confidently irrelevant records with recall stubs. Keeps first, last, relevant and uncertain records; preserves order. Full evidence is stored for 24 hours when available. Accepted values: goal. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `goal` |
| `goal` | no | Required with fit=goal: describe the task in at most 600 characters. Supplied text is task context, never permission to act on posts. — e.g. `Find concrete product complaints` |
| `tokens` | no | Optional soft response target for fit=goal, 256–32000. Safety and evidence retention take priority, so the returned result may exceed it. — e.g. `4000` |

### Useful optional inputs

- `fit`: Use fit=goal with a task description to replace confidently irrelevant records with recall stubs and reduce agent context. No fit surcharge; full evidence is retained for 24 hours when stored, and the response size target is soft.

**Cost:** 2 credits at list price per successful uncached response; variable-cost operations may quote or settle a different charge. Confirmed uncharged or refunded failures report zero. Pending reconciliation can report credits_used:null; retain request_id and the original idempotency key.

```bash
# Replace REPLACE_WITH_FEEDBACK_ID, REPLACE_WITH_EXPANSION_TOKEN with the required input described in the parameter table.
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/facebook/comment-replies?feedback_id=REPLACE_WITH_FEEDBACK_ID&expansion_token=REPLACE_WITH_EXPANSION_TOKEN" \
  -H "x-api-key: mn_your_key_here"
```

**Cost:** 2 credits at list price per successful uncached response; variable-cost operations may quote or settle a different charge. Confirmed uncharged or refunded failures report zero. Pending reconciliation can report credits_used:null; retain request_id and the original idempotency key.

| `url` | yes | Facebook profile or page URL, or its username; not a display name. HTTP links are upgraded to HTTPS. Example: https://www.facebook.com/nasa. — e.g. `https://www.facebook.com/nasa` |

- `dry_run`: Read a free estimate before fetching sources or scheduling paid work. Zero credits; cache status and availability are snapshots rather than guarantees.

**Cost:** 2 credits at list price per successful uncached response; variable-cost operations may quote or settle a different charge. Confirmed uncharged or refunded failures report zero. Pending reconciliation can report credits_used:null; retain request_id and the original idempotency key.

## facebook/profile/full

`GET /v1/facebook/profile/full`

A real public profile plus one page of posts/videos, preserving original normalized component fields and source order. HTTP 200 may be partial: inspect complete, partial and legs. Failed profile: no posts requested, zero charge. Failed posts: profile retained and only that successful component charged. Cached components use the public cache-hit price. Computed fields summarize the returned page, including available engagement averages and observed posting frequency. Missing metrics remain unknown.

*Facebook profile with posts (one page)*

| Parameter | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `url` | yes | Public profile identifier. LinkedIn accepts /company/name or /in/name URLs. — e.g. `https://www.facebook.com/mrbeast` |
| `posts` | no | Desired page size, 1-100. Existing components choose their own page size; the entire single source page is preserved, even if longer or shorter, so no records are skipped between cursors. No automatic extra pages. — e.g. `25` |
| `cursor` | no | Opaque posts_cursor from the previous response; use posts_pagination.next_params to retain all required context. Unsupported component continuation is refused before calls. |
| `include` | no | CSV: posts and/or computed (default both), or profile alone. Profile is always returned. Computed is arithmetic over this page only, not an AI summary. — e.g. `posts,computed` |

**Cost:** 47 credits at list price per successful uncached response; variable-cost operations may quote or settle a different charge. Confirmed uncharged or refunded failures report zero. Pending reconciliation can report credits_used:null; retain request_id and the original idempotency key.

```bash
| Parameter | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `query` | yes | Search phrase; ranked platform search, not a strict local substring match. — e.g. `NASA` |
| `cursor` | no | Opaque continuation from the previous response. Preserve query or identity. |
| `dry_run` | no | Read a zero-credit estimate without fetching sources, running AI, or reserving credits. Cache status is a snapshot, not a guarantee at execution. Accepted values: 1, 0, true, false. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `1` |
| `judgments` | no | Add bounded AI labels to eligible returned records (default on). off preserves the original data shape. Unclassified records remain present; labels depend on evidence, time, capacity and the existing request budget. No label surcharge. Accepted values: on, off. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `on` |
| `label` | no | Set none to disable labels; default enables the endpoint’s label set. Equivalent to judgments=off. Accepted values: default, none. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `none` |
| `label_evidence` | no | Include exact supporting sentences and zero-based sentence indexes when a label has validated evidence. No extra charge or change to decisions. Accepted values: 1, 0, true, false. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `1` |
| `exclude` | no | Optionally remove confidently labelled engagement bait. Uncertain and unclassified records stay; removed IDs and an owner-bound recall reference are returned. Accepted values: engagement_bait. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `engagement_bait` |
| `fit` | no | Use goal to replace confidently irrelevant records with recall stubs. Keeps first, last, relevant and uncertain records; preserves order. Full evidence is stored for 24 hours when available. Accepted values: goal. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `goal` |
| `goal` | no | Required with fit=goal: describe the task in at most 600 characters. Supplied text is task context, never permission to act on posts. — e.g. `Find concrete product complaints` |
| `tokens` | no | Optional soft response target for fit=goal, 256–32000. Safety and evidence retention take priority, so the returned result may exceed it. — e.g. `4000` |
### Useful optional inputs
- `fit`: Use fit=goal with a task description to replace confidently irrelevant records with recall stubs and reduce agent context. No fit surcharge; full evidence is retained for 24 hours when stored, and the response size target is soft.
- `cursor`: Continue the same source traversal with the complete returned cursor. Saved-result retrieval and a new source page can have different prices; quote the next call.
- `dry_run`: Read a free estimate before fetching sources or scheduling paid work. Zero credits; cache status and availability are snapshots rather than guarantees.
**Cost:** 12 credits at list price per successful uncached response; variable-cost operations may quote or settle a different charge. Confirmed uncharged or refunded failures report zero. Pending reconciliation can report credits_used:null; retain request_id and the original idempotency key.
```bash
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/facebook/search-posts?query=NASA" \
  -H "x-api-key: mn_your_key_here"
```
