# Google Places API guide

## Start with Google Places

Resolve a place from a text query, then use the returned place ID for details and available reviews. Match address and locality before analysing a similarly named business.

These requests use your API key and can spend credits. Check the current price on the endpoint page; each new page is a separate request. Later examples use illustrative identifiers: replace them with values from your earlier response.

### 1. Find a place

Select a result by identity and address; retain its place ID. [Parameters and current cost →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/google_places/search)

**google_places/search**

```
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/google_places/search?query=coffee%20in%20Worthing&limit=5" \
  -H "x-api-key: mn_your_key_here"
```

### 2. Read its details

Replace the example id with the chosen place ID. [Parameters and current cost →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/google_places/place)

**google_places/place**

```
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/google_places/place?id=ChIJl1wfOSCjdUgRhrFnqMsMhQM" \
  -H "x-api-key: mn_your_key_here"
```

### 3. Read available reviews

Use that same place ID. Returned reviews are a bounded source sample, not all reviews implied by an aggregate count. [Parameters and current cost →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/google_places/reviews)

**google_places/reviews**

```
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/google_places/reviews?id=ChIJl1wfOSCjdUgRhrFnqMsMhQM" \
  -H "x-api-key: mn_your_key_here"
```

## Choose filters with the source behavior in mind

| Control | Behavior and limits |
| --- | --- |
| Result bounds | Text search limit is 1–20. The declared search contract does not expose a cursor; a result page is not an exhaustive business directory. [Endpoint reference →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/google_places/search) |
| Place identity | Use the place ID from the selected search result. Match address and locality when names repeat. [Endpoint reference →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/google_places/place) |
| Review sample | No public cursor or exhaustive-review contract is declared here. Preserve the source sample and its attribution rather than extrapolating it to all customers. [Endpoint reference →](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/google_places/reviews) |

Source availability, ordering and field coverage can change. Inspect warnings and partial-result metadata alongside the rows. See [runnable workflows](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/workflows), [metric semantics](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/metric-semantics), [computed fields](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/computed-fields) and the [pagination matrix](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/pagination).

## Match the operation to your task

| Your task | Endpoint | When to use it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A known place | [`place`](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/google_places/place) | Avoid another text search when you already have its ID. |
| Review text | [`reviews`](https://www.monocrawl.com/docs/endpoints/google_places/reviews) | Keep review time, rating and source attribution when available. |

## google_places/hotels-search

`GET /v1/google_places/hotels-search`

Hotels for a query on Google Hotels with price, stars, rating and amenities.

*Google Hotels search*

| Parameter | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `query` | yes | Search terms — e.g. `hotels in Bath` |
| `check_in` | no | Check-in date — e.g. `2026-10-10` |
| `check_out` | no | Check-out date — e.g. `2026-10-12` |
| `location` | no | Location name — e.g. `United Kingdom` |
| `language` | no | Language code — e.g. `en` |
| `limit` | no | Requested rows per response, 1–1000. The source may return fewer. Remaining rows from an already purchased page use a saved cursor and cost zero to retrieve for up to one hour; further native source pages use this endpoint’s normal price. — e.g. `5` |
| `cursor` | no | Use the returned cursor unchanged, retaining the original query, filters and limit. Saved mlo1. cursors retrieve already purchased rows at zero credits for up to one hour. A native source cursor, when supplied, starts a normally priced source page. Quote with dry_run before continuing. |
| `dry_run` | no | Read a zero-credit estimate without fetching sources, running AI, or reserving credits. Cache status is a snapshot, not a guarantee at execution. Accepted values: 1, 0, true, false. Case, spaces, hyphens and underscores are interchangeable. — e.g. `1` |

### Useful optional inputs

- `limit`: Bound the returned rows to what your task needs. A smaller limit does not necessarily reduce source calls or price; inspect the quote.
- `cursor`: Continue the same source traversal with the complete returned cursor. Saved-result retrieval and a new source page can have different prices; quote the next call.
- `dry_run`: Read a free estimate before fetching sources or scheduling paid work. Zero credits; cache status and availability are snapshots rather than guarantees.

**Cost:** 4 credits at list price per successful uncached response; variable-cost operations may quote or settle a different charge. Confirmed uncharged or refunded failures report zero. Pending reconciliation can report credits_used:null; retain request_id and the original idempotency key.

```bash
curl "https://www.monocrawl.com/v1/google_places/hotels-search?query=hotels%20in%20Bath" \
```

## google_places/updates

`GET /v1/google_places/updates`

Posts a business has published on its Google listing. Queued task.

*Google business updates*

| Parameter | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `query` | yes | Business name, optionally with a place — e.g. `Dishoom Shoreditch` |
| `location` | no | Location name — e.g. `London,England,United Kingdom` |
| `language` | no | Language code — e.g. `en` |

- `dry_run`: Read a free estimate before fetching sources or scheduling paid work. Zero credits; cache status and availability are snapshots rather than guarantees.

**Cost:** 5 credits at list price per successful uncached response; variable-cost operations may quote or settle a different charge. Confirmed uncharged or refunded failures report zero. Pending reconciliation can report credits_used:null; retain request_id and the original idempotency key.
