Publishing, analytics and ads for accounts that connect, or Pinterest’s trending keywordsPinterest API v5, which serves an account’s own analytics, publishing and ads once it authorises your app, and ranks trending search keywords by region, age and interest.
Pinterest’s API v5 serves accounts that log in to your app: it reads their own pins and boards, and searching all of Pinterest is a beta not available to all apps. Data APIs read any public pin, board or profile with an API key, and Decodo returns Pinterest pages to parse.

Pinterest publishes no price for its API v5; access is set by tiers and rate limits instead. Trial access allows 1,000 requests a day, and Standard access 100 requests a second per user per app, with lower limits for some categories, such as 60 trend requests a minute. For public data, most data APIs let you start free: Monocrawl gives 1,000 credits every month, Bright Data 5,000 records a month, Apify $5 of usage a month, ReefAPI 1,000 credits, Piloterr 500 credits and SociaVault 50 credits. Decodo has a free plan, and Data365 a 14-day trial on request.
Can the Pinterest API search all pins or read other accounts?
Mostly not. Pinterest API v5 returns the pins and boards the authorised account owns, plus group boards shared with it, and its search covers that account’s own pins and boards. A search of all Pinterest, returning the top 10 pins for a term, is in beta and not available to all apps. For any public pin or board, Monocrawl searches pins by keyword and reads a board’s pins from its URL, with no Pinterest app.
How do I get access to the Pinterest API?
Log in with or create a Pinterest business account, verify its email address, accept the Developer Terms and request Trial access; Pinterest reviews requests each business day. With Trial access, pins and boards your app creates are visible only to you. Standard access needs a video of your app sending users through the OAuth flow and completing an action with the API. Pinterest’s developer guidelines also bar storing information from the API, apart from campaign analytics: you call the API each time instead.
Do I need a Pinterest account or developer app to use a data API?
Not with Monocrawl: you send your Monocrawl API key with a keyword, pin URL, board URL or username and get public Pinterest data back, with no Pinterest login and no developer app. Pinterest’s own API needs a business account, an approved app and each user’s authorisation through OAuth.
Which Pinterest APIs work with AI agents?
Monocrawl, Apify, Piloterr, ReefAPI and SociaVault publish their own MCP servers that return Pinterest data, so assistants such as Claude or Cursor can call them directly; Piloterr’s covers profile lookups only. Bright Data’s and Decodo’s MCP servers have only general scraping tools for Pinterest, which return the page. Pinterest has announced an MCP server of its own for pins, boards, trends and ads, and its page invites sign-ups for launch updates.
Can I get Pinterest trends through an API?
Yes, from Pinterest. Its API v5 returns the top trending search keywords by region, filtered by interest, age and gender and ranked as growing, monthly, yearly or seasonal trends, plus featured topics and growing product categories for the US, Canada, and Great Britain and Ireland. ReefAPI returns Pinterest’s search autocomplete for a partial query. For the pins behind a trend, Monocrawl’s pin search returns public pins for any keyword, with each pin’s image, description, board and outbound domain.

How we compared.
What’s includedPinterest’s own API v5, plus Pinterest data and scraping APIs that come up across Pinterest API searches and comparison lists, document Pinterest endpoints of their own, and publish their pricing or offer a trial.
What we comparedWhat each vendor publishes about its Pinterest data, pricing, free allowance and access, read on its own pages. “Best” here means worth comparing, not a ranking from tests: we have not run their APIs.
