Questions
Terra. Tripadvisor calls its Terra Discover package the direct replacement for the legacy Content API for self-service customers, and set Content API keys to be deprecated on 31 August 2026. Terra is a new product: you create a new account and key, as Content API keys are not carried over.
Terra Discover is pay as you go per billable entity: $0.015 each for the first 1,000 in a monthly billing cycle, falling in tiers to $0.009 above 5,000. Each location returned counts as one entity, and a reviews or photos call counts as one. The first 1,000 entities on an account are free, once. Growth, Scale and Innovate are on custom contracts.
Not an ongoing one: Terra Discover’s one-time 1,000 free entities replaced the Content API’s 5,000-call free tier. For public data, most data APIs let you start free: Monocrawl gives 1,000 credits every month, Apify $5 of usage a month, Bright Data 5,000 page loads a month, Decodo 2,000 standard requests, ReefAPI 1,000 credits, ScrapingBee 1,000 credits, SearchApi 100 requests and StayAPI 50 requests.
On Terra Discover, the 3 most recent reviews and 5 most recent photos per location. Growth returns 5 reviews and 10 photos, Scale 10 reviews and 15 photos, and Innovate 10 or more reviews and 25 photos, plus historical reviews. Owner responses start on Scale. Monocrawl returns up to 100 reviews of a place in one call.
Tripadvisor’s API Master Terms license Terra content for display in the website or app you register, and for internal analysis of a property’s reviews to improve that property. Other AI and machine-learning use needs a separate signed agreement, apart from grounding for internal, non-commercial testing, and unless your contract says otherwise, only location IDs may be cached. For AI agents, Monocrawl, Apify, Bright Data, Decodo, ReefAPI, ScrapingBee, SearchApi and StayAPI publish their own MCP servers.
Not with Monocrawl: you send your Monocrawl API key with a Tripadvisor URL, ID or search term and get public data back, with no Tripadvisor account and no Terra key. Terra needs a Terra account and key, the website or app you register, and Tripadvisor’s logo and links back wherever its content appears.
