Google News API
News search
Search Google News by keyword, edition, publisher and dates. Results may link through Google News redirects. Country selects the edition, not publisher domicile. At most 100 articles are returned; strict dates omit unknown dates. The GDELT fallback index identifies its different coverage in warnings.

Query parameters
| Name | Required | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
keyword | yes | Search phrase | artificial intelligence |
depth | no | Requested articles, 1–250 for compatibility. The primary source returns at most 100; a larger request is explicitly partial. Dates and publisher filters can reduce the delivered count. | 25 |
language_code | no | Language code for the news edition (for example en), not a detected language of each article. | en |
location_code | no | Two-letter country edition (for example US or GB), not a filter or observation of publisher domicile. | us |
publisher | no | Restrict to one publisher domain | bbc.co.uk |
time_range | no | hour, day, week or month | week |
from | no | ISO-8601 start of an explicit window | 2026-08-01 |
to | no | ISO-8601 end of an explicit window | 2026-08-31 |
dry_run | no | Read a zero-credit estimate without fetching sources, running AI, or reserving credits. Cache status is a snapshot, not a guarantee at execution. | 1 |
group | no | Optional stories groups related returned news headlines with links back to every original row. Default none. A conservative local comparison, not AI, deduplication, corroboration, a count of distinct events or a claim of article equivalence. Original results and order remain available; at most 100 returned rows are compared. No extra source or model calls or credit surcharge. | stories |

Response fields and example
This example is illustrative, not a captured live response. Variable-cost operations may settle a charge different from the list price below. A successful response puts the platform payload in data and reports the exact credits used, remaining balance, request id and cache status beside it.

}The example is illustrative and shows a documented subset of data. The fields below are optional across supported sources; nullable fields can also be absent. Preserve unknown values and accept additional fields.
Schema basis: observed response shapes, not an exhaustive field specification. See schema coverage and validation limits.
Download the data JSON Schema. Validate response.data, not the whole envelope. A valid shape does not establish that every field or source record was returned.

The example is invented and illustrates types only; zero and empty values are not claims about a real result.
Failures use the typed error envelope. A confirmed uncharged or refunded failure reports zero; a pending reconciliation can report an unknown charge. Read credits_used and error.details.billing_status, and keep request_id for recovery. Response contract · Error reference
