Zillow Group’s APIs need approval. Its Zestimate, Public Records and Econ Data APIs run on Bridge Interactive, which says registration is open to the public, but Zillow reviews each use case (allow at least 10 business days), caps approved access at 1,000 calls a day per dataset and doesn’t allow the data to be stored. MLS listings on the Bridge API come only from MLSs that approve you, and Zillow Research publishes market metrics as free downloads.
Is there a Zestimate API?
Yes. Zillow Group’s Zestimate API returns current property, rental and foreclosure Zestimates for about 100 million US properties, for businesses whose application Zillow approves. Its terms require Zillow’s logo, the label “Zestimate® home valuation” and a link to the home on Zillow beside every Zestimate. Apify and Zillapi return the Zestimate and Rent Zestimate from Zillow listings, HasData returns an estimated value and rent, and Monocrawl’s for-sale search and property calls can include estimated values, with an estimated monthly rent in search results.
Is there a free Zillow API?
Zillow publishes no price for its Bridge datasets, though its API terms allow a monthly fee for some data, and Bridge charges no service fees for MLS feeds, though MLSs may charge their own. Zillow Research’s market data downloads are free, with attribution to Zillow. For listing and property data, most data APIs let you start free: Monocrawl gives 1,000 credits every month, Bright Data 5,000 records a month, Apify $5 of usage a month, HasData 1,000 credits a month, RentCast 50 requests a month, ScrapingBee 1,000 credits and Zillapi 100 credits once. Oxylabs has a free trial of up to 2,000 results, ScraperAPI a 7-day trial with 5,000 credits and ATTOM a 30-day trial.
Do I need an MLS membership or Zillow’s approval to get Zillow data?
Not with Monocrawl: you send your Monocrawl API key with a location, a Zillow property ID or an apartment-building URL and get public data back, with no Zillow account, Bridge approval or MLS licence. Zillow Group’s own datasets need an application Zillow approves, and MLS listings on the Bridge API need approval from each MLS, which sets its own licence rules and any fees.
Which Zillow APIs work with AI agents?
Monocrawl, Apify, ATTOM, Bright Data, HasData, RentCast and Zillapi publish their own MCP servers, so assistants such as Claude or Cursor can call them directly. Oxylabs’, ScraperAPI’s and ScrapingBee’s MCP servers have no Zillow tool: the agent gets Zillow pages as HTML or Markdown, or the fields it asks them to extract.
How are RentCast and ATTOM different from a Zillow API?
They sell their own property databases and valuation models. RentCast covers 150+ million US properties from public records, tax assessors and online directories, with value and rent estimates and no attribution required. ATTOM covers 160+ million US properties, with its own AVM, rental AVM, sales history and neighbourhood data. Zillow sources return what Zillow shows, such as the Zestimate.
Method
How we compared.
What’s includedZillow Group’s own routes, from its Zestimate, Public Records and Econ Data APIs and MLS listings on Bridge to its free research downloads, plus Zillow data and scraping APIs and two property data APIs that come up across Zillow API searches and comparison lists and publish their pricing or offer a trial.
What we comparedWhat each vendor publishes about its Zillow or property data, pricing, free allowance and access, read on its own pages. “Best” here means worth comparing, not a ranking from tests: we have not run their APIs.
